Panicudine was identified as an active antimicrobial substance in the chloroform extract of " Polygonum aviculare ", a traditional herbal medicine of the Mediterranean coastal region.
The larva live in fusiform galls on the stems of " Polygonum aviculare ", " Polygonum arenarium " and " Polygonum lapathifolium ".
The larvae probably feed on various moss species in the wild, but have been reared on various plants, such as " Taraxacum officinale ", " Stellaria media " and " Polygonum aviculare ".
